Frequently Asked
Questions

Who issues my certification?

Certification is issued through the Equal Assurance Partner. QMSiQ manages the client relationship, audit planning, and audit delivery, while the certification decision and certificate issuance remain under the Partner’s authority.

What is the difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2?

Stage 1 reviews your management system and readiness for certification. Stage 2 evaluates whether your management system is fully implemented and effective against the applicable standard.

How long does certification take?

Timing depends on your organization’s readiness, size, complexity, and scheduling needs. The timeline is coordinated with you after application review, and certification generally must be completed within 12 months of proposal acceptance.

How many audit days will I need?

Audit duration depends on factors such as employee count, number of sites, processes, shifts, complexity, and certification scope. QMSiQ determines the required audit time after reviewing your application.

Can I transfer an existing certificate?

Yes. Existing accredited certifications may be eligible for transfer. QMSiQ will review your current certificate, recent audit history, open findings, and certification status to determine eligibility.

What happens after certification?

Certification is maintained through periodic surveillance audits, followed by recertification at the end of the 3-year certification cycle.
